Series 100  Lettuce/Endive

        Lettuce/Lattuga

Lettuces can be divided into two categories; head lettuces
which consist of round and Cos types, and leaf lettuces.
Heading varieties prefer cooler temperatures (50-60°F).
Cos and leaf lettuces are more tolerant to warmer
temperatures.  Lettuces thrive on well fertilized soils high in
nitrogen and should be watered regularly.

        Endive/Endivia and Escarole/Escarola

The texture and flavour of endives and escaroles are
very similar to each other.  Like chicory they tend to be
slightly bitter but  sweeten in colder temperatures.
These plants can withstand cold dry weather but do not
        tolerate hot dry spells.
